:-) (I hope)

After speaking to James tonight, I am hoping everyone is more hopeful now and can have a good weekend.

From this point on, the matter is closed to those reading this blog, it has to remain between Daisy, James & Sean. What those three decide has to be respected by everyone else whether they personally agree with it or not.

All reference to the matter has no place on the interweb and we’ll try and remove it.

Section 28 … this time for God!

Once again religions, organisations based on nothing more than an idea that something they cannot prove, exists, have been able to manipulate equality law to their own advantage.

Effectively, as the amendment to the PHSE bill state, they can fashion their PHSE in a way which reflects their faith whilst they must still teach about all aspects within the curriculum.

How difficult is it going to be to make that one work?

I can imagine a Catholic school teaching thus:

“The government demands we teach of homosexuality which is a pretended relationship between two people of the same gender who engage in sexual acts our Lord, Jesus Christ describes as heinous. Some of you may, indeed, feel you could be homosexual, we pray to the Lord for you. Whilst it is legal within the UK it is not acceptable within the bounds of our faith. Those engaging in these disagreeable encounters should ensure they use a condom for protection against sexual transmitted diseases. His holyness, the Pope, condemns the use of condoms and an affront against God himself but, if you feel the need to go against the wishes of the church then may God forgive you my children.”

Now, how far removed from what the law says they can get away with is that? My guess is, it is close enough to the letter of the law that no school will ever be prosecuted. Quite soon governors of other state schools will be amending their PHSE so as not to offend those students of certain religions. Once that happens, it is section 28 all over again. There will be no specific law preventing the full spectrum of SRE but, because of fear of getting wrong, schools will introduce safety measures, just like before.

I have been listening to interviews I gave as far back as 2000, 2003 and 2007 and, you know what, nothing has really changed. This country is as homophobic as ever it was.

Good to see Global Warming is affecting everywhere again. Why is it so typical of the UK that we are affected by Global ‘warming’ by getting more snow and ice?

Yes, it is snowing again in Northampton, just how many days of snow that means we’ve had this year, these past few months, I don’t know but, it is too much!

According to Accuweather today also has a high arthritis index, they have that right! However, with a low UV index, I don’t have to worry about sunburn so we have to look on the plus side! If it doesn’t hurt too much to go walking, the air quality is good, well, every cloud has a silver lining I guess. If I don’t die from frostbite and I can walk through the discomfort then I won’t die of suffocation!

But, where could I go to improve all of this? Well, Gran Canaria, right now at 9:25 is 19°C whilst, Orlando, Florida, at 4:25 is 17°C. I prefer the latter for two reasons. One, it is gonna get a lot warmer and, two, I’d still be in bed!

You may be interested to know, I am bored enough at the moment to be, that since 1961, the weather for this area has been quite consistent with average daily temperature for February of 6.4°C … though, it has generally been around –1 – 5°C lately.

Josh says he’d like to type something …

WGX F VTUUAHHHNNLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL      l, .         jkb  ax; m jnmkm        jnh m ,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes, well, I am not entirely sure that makes a lot of sense but the thought was there and he was very keen to type it and there was even a free burp thrown in for good measure.

Changes

Are in the air, maybe?

I don’t know. I want to believe everything will now be OK. I have been pushing for what we currently have right now for so long even I was starting to doubt it myself. But, after so long, it seems somewhat unreal. A little like someone calling to say we are a lottery winner yet, not so far having received a cheque. I want to start reaping the rewards but, until things are firmly in the bank I remain anxious. I know I don’t have the energy to go through it all again so this time really has to be ‘the’ time.

Eastenders … wow, Frank’s dead! Pauline has not been in it for weeks and I reckon her Arthur is up to no good.

I am starting to accept now it is very unlikely we are going to go to Gran Canaria this summer. Thanks to a certain person the chances are slim of my receiving the money I am owed before I have to make a decision one way or another. It’s really annoying but, one of those things which remains out of my control and one I refuse to get myself any more worked up over. I am determined to crack the latest lump of poo stressy stuff so, saying no to certain things and people is essential to that. All I need to get sorted now is actually going to bed at a sensible time … memo to self, 5am is not a sensible time.

I just checked, today is Friday, this means tomorrow is Saturday and the day after that, all things being equal, shall be Sunday. Because of half term, because of who has been around me, I have had zero concept of actual days at all this week. Someone called earlier and I asked “what are you doing working on a Saturday?” Yes, I am making myself seem somewhat prattish!

Oh, back to sensible bed times … it is also unreasonable (note to self) to start cutting hair at 4am regardless of how good the results look! Steve (that’s me in case anyone is feeling as dizzy as me right now) Steve, get some sleep!

Well, all who have seen it … up until midday today at least, liked it.

I watched Holby earlier on iPlayer. Forgot how much I like Casualty and Holby .. may not remember to watch it again for months though.

Spent a couple of days this week repairing a very sick computer. I have never worked on one so riddled with malware. It took 4 separate programs to finally remove it. It’s a good job the owner asked me to do it as a favour rather than take it to PC World, their fee would have been more than the PC was worth!

I think, for now, I am going to relax with regard to web creation. I have updated several sites now and I believe I deserve a break.

Speaking of breaks, I also keep thinking I am going away somewhere for a break yet, as far as my memory is telling me right now, I have nothing booked. Maybe part of my brain is telling me I should?

A bath then bed I think …

Oh, I was asked earlier, how’s it being a granddad? I answered that it is like being a dad without the added pressure. Then I was asked, if it is like being a dad, how come you can cope with them not being around all the time? My reply was that, as a parent, I have already had to get used to half of my kids not being around most of the time and it doesn’t get any easier.

Every day I miss them but, the reality is, at some point we’ll have to part, life doesn’t go on forever so my being around all the time now isn’t healthy for them long term. They need to manage without me and that thought upsets me about as much as I suppose it does them but it is rather unavoidable. The difficult thing, the really nearly impossible thing, is not to smother the kids. If they are ill it upsets me as much now as it did when they were crying in pain as babies. I still, with everything I know, feel useless much of the time and just want them better. I think I have been very lucky in so many ways. I bond terribly easily and, quite possibly, when I have, that bond doesn’t break. Once I have accepted someone into my heart, they are always there and never more so than with my own children and grandchildren.

One thing is for sure and very difficult for me and, probably most other parents, sharing. As they get older we have to share our kids with others. It’s great in that we have extra people in our lives but, at the same time, it feels like a little of that love and bond is lost as well, there are other people to turn to. With grandchildren that generally happens from the moment they are born. We are always a step away from being their world, we have to accept that sharing them is a vital part of their lives. I don’t know, other grandparents out there must know what I mean? I know it wouldn’t have made sense to me before Josh was born! Right now though, it makes perfect sense.

Bath time, bed time and that, Stevie boy, is an order!

Real?

I was in KFC earlier and reading stuff, like you do. Opposite was a sign and on it read:

‘Made with Real chicken’

What does that mean precisely? Are they trying to tell me that the likes of McDonalds use fake chicken? Maybe KFC offer a ‘sort of chicken’ alternative for those not fussed about ‘real’ chicken?

They went on:

‘Made with Real Dairy Ice Cream’

Instead of what? I mean, it’s from the dairy so it must have milk in it right? What sort of ice cream can I get from a dairy which isn’t real?

Companies should think before they make me think … I only wanted to have something to eat, I didn’t ask for or need a philosophical debate!

If only …

We had a a few days rather than just two … it takes me at least 3-4 days to unwind so, by the time I am starting to get there, I am heading back up the horrible A605 again!

Trying to keep myself amused earlier and relaxed I created a website … I had one there before but I have totally written it again using very few parts of the original. Not sure if I shall keep it or not yet but it is different anyway!

Busy!

Feedback please on what I hope is the final version of Northamptonshire Carers website

If I am lucky, my 5am workings on this site are now over and I can get on with some less pressured activities.

Today I started by collecting a new buggy for Daisy & Sean (Josh mainly) that they had bought from ebay. It matches the one they already have except that it is lighter and has just three wheels instead of two.

image

I followed that by taking their Quinny buggy to Matt & Anne for Imogen. We were late then for getting Zoey to Kris so I made a detour to town to get Zoey to meet Kris there. From there we headed off the Wisbech to drop Sean and Daisy off with Josh at the home of Emma & David, Sean’s sister and her fella. Back to Northampton for a meeting with someone which went really well. I collected Deej from the station as he’d been in Milton Keynes all day with a friend, we then went to Buddies where we had a lovely meal which I really couldn’t eat and was falling asleep over. From there to Sainsbury and then finally home to drop and chill.

Yesterday was, thankfully, a quiet day with only an hour at Zoey’s college, a meeting with Daisy’s solicitor and an evening at the school with Daisy waiting around forever for her teachers to speak with.

This weekend we are planning nothing except maybe nipping out to eat, hours in bed, no contact with anyone any more than we have to … we’ll see.

Youtube Videos

I was going to share our civil partnership and honeymoon videos but, sadly, they are way too long. I really don’t fancy taking up my own webspace with them so, if you want to see them, you have to visit.

Have updated http://www.dizzyqueen.net but, if you view my blog through that site, you’ll know that already!

Speaking of websites, can I have some feedback please on Test BETA site for Northamptonshire Carers. I still have some work to do on it, quite a bit as it happens, but I would appreciate knowing your views so far

Busy Weekend

As usual, this weekend has been busy … I did plan for Saturday to be ‘my day’ when I could stay in bed if I wanted to as everyone had arranged to go out for the day. That didn’t happen, they were all here instead. I don’t mind, I love them here, but, at the same time, I was still looking forward to my few hours of nothingness … is that even a word?

Sunday was as normal Sundays are except, I stayed in bed until gone 1pm! Yes, believe it or not, I saw the clock a few times and allowed myself to ignore it. I think I must be coming down with something … saying no to people and allowing myself to lay in?

The camera and cam were busy this weekend … below are some edited home movies you may like. I think the one with Matt & Jermaine is long overdue and am hoping it affects him as it did me.

Sylvia gave Josh this lovely ‘pink’ bouncy thing and he seems to really enjoy it

Immy & Josh are hopefully going to grow up having loads of fun together

I found this very emotional to make.

I think this is my first video of Imogen, she’s adorable!

Josh at the end of January … seems only a few days ago we were wandering around Tesco, eating KFC and waiting for it all to happen
