Another Last Day

Before heading off on holiday!

Tomorrow we head south to Ashford and thence, onwards to France on Sunday and Disneyland!

Our plans have changed, this is not entirely the holiday we planned. It’ll be good anyway. It is nice to have someone at home looking after the place for us.

Am going to miss, Anne, Matt and Immy but, it’s only a week so back soon enough.

This week has been eventful and, then again, not so. Promises were made, as yet, no sign anything is changing. That’s annoying because, as with Martin Luther … ‘I have a dream’. Sadly, as with his dream, it may take decades to come true, if it ever does! My general rule is, our kids come first unless we can sneak some time for ourselves in their somewhere. If we see our friends more often than we see our kids, we have it, totally, 100% wrong buster!

I was once offered a millionaire lifestyle. All I had to do was move away from my kids and just see them now and then. He was a lovely guy too, something could have worked but, you know what, it took me fractions of a second to refuse the offer. No amount of money or other incentive on this planet could have turned me into ‘McDonalds Dad’, that sad specimen that see’s his kids once a months, buys them McDonalds, hands over some money and then walks out their life again for a month … that is totally not me. Boys play with their toys, men play with their children.

Oh boy, the weather! I so hope we get out the country and all the way to Disney this weekend! All the planning just has to mean something. Was -5°C earlier!

Now 01:45, less than 11 hours and we’ll be on the road! Good job I don’t need sleep! Oh, and, Harry Potter too!

Write again in a week or so but, for now, signing off!

Tiring but fun weekend and … ‘interesting’ day

Nice to have the family over this weekend. I am still feeling rather stressed, I need a holiday .. oh wait! Smile

Looking forward to having some Immy time on Wednesday even though I do still have to work part of the day and, some Jermaine time here on Friday afternoon. They couldn’t come earlier so it seems pointless going into town.

Met with Javis earlier, went well I think. He has a lot of serious thinking to do. I guess Facebook will give us most of the answers on what he’s decided but, I won’t be posting more on it here.

A nice cup of coffee from my wonderful man, that deserves a hug me thinks

Annoyingly, it didn’t sell Sad smile My first attempt at selling something other than a car was a fail. Am relisting and trying a different marketing ploy but, what the hell do I know?!

The bottom line is, this is a phone which, with a little shopping around, someone could get for about £70-80. We started it at £90 with a ‘Buy it now’ of £120. Well, that figure can stay, I don’t think it makes much difference. But, what I have done is lowered the start price to £65. With that, someone is getting it market value even including the P&P so, if they’ve done the homework, they’ll know it’s an OK deal. Sean thinks he can sell it locally for around £50-60 so, anything more than that is a bonus. In short, I now believe it is priced realistically and, on a good day with a following wind, it could still make that £120 figure simply because we have seen the same phone go for more.

Listing is finished Saturday eve, we’ll see what happens. BTW, should anyone be tempted to look, please don’t add it to a watch list, it screws up what I am looking at!

Crunch time …

logoEbay_x45

Yes, today is the day when Sean’s phone either sells or doesn’t. Last night there were 6 people watching it, this morning down to 5. I never really expected anyone to place a bid until at the earliest, an hour before the end time, around 9pm. Even so, all this waiting is … grrr!

All I have sold previously is a car, true, a big thing to start with but, I am not an ebay regular so I don’t really understand the rules. Selling this phone would be amazing not because of the money but that I actually managed to sell something!

Immy & Josh both fed and watered, shopping done, dishwasher emptied and put away, made breakfast for me n Deej and only just gone 10am!

Best get back to it, Deej has been with both of them for 5 minutes now!

Can you believe it?

It is 2010 and I was on Facebook chatting to a female fried who seemed a little down and, guess what, a bloke joined in the tread and told me to fuck off! He then sent me a private message telling me to ‘fuck off faggot’!

Needless to say he was blocked and reported but, apparently, he thought that this friend of mine was chatting me up so decided to start one. She told him he was so barking up the wrong tree and that’s when he started with the homophobia!

Meanwhile …

Bless him, dead tired and still laughing

First Class Poo

I should have explained that more … why? I hear you ask!

OK, back on one of the very many occasions us and James were part of one happy family we did a trip to Disneyland. On the way back we’d booked to travel first class on the ferry. Desperate as he was James insisted on waiting so he could have a ‘first class poo’ … I guess you had to be there but, it was funny and, is one of those moments which make me sad for the way he subsequently treated us Sad smile

2 Weeks

Yes, 2 weeks from today we are not going to be in Northampton but … in Kent overnight, watching Harry Potter, having a meal and then heading off to France for the week … yay!

All animals looked after, house looked after, all good!

Sean’s first trip out the country, Josh’s first trip out the country, Disneyland … first class poo, hotels, fun, relaxation … oh boy, I think I may be getting excited now.

Blue Skies

It is lovely to wake up to blue skies in the morning, it’s one of those ‘anything is possible’ sort of days but, I may choose to do nothing.

Once again I have woken up with a headache. I don’t know why it is happening every morning and it is starting to get annoying … thankfully I have something to take, thank you Robin.

Speaking of Robin … I’d like to thank him for being an amazing friend. Annoyingly he is undervalued, used and abused by too many. It would appear to that, at least my grandchildren type babies love him and he’d never have thought it possible to have any mutual feeling of happiness between him and a child I suspect! Kids make very quick judgements between good people and bad people.

I was watching some video yesterday of the Boggy Creek airboat trip me and Deej will be doing next year. Hmm, I got the feeling it has the potential to disappoint! I was hoping it would be teaming with alligators, huge ones and yet, all the clips I saw seemed to just have baby alligators and lots of birds with the focus on speed. Still, if Deej gets to see just one alligator in the wild it will be one more than he managed last time!

Josh is still teething, not sleeping well, not eating well and, it seems Imogen is in the same boat. Hopefully, both will be over this spell of discomfort soon.

James should be in deep shame for what he did walking out. Every week and month makes being part of Josh’s life seem all the more impossible. The more I find out about his life in Kent, the more angry I get. Josh deserved better in a dad and, thankfully, he has it, in Sean.

My previous statement about having sorted all the Christmas gifts may have been premature. It seems we really have not yet sorted all the gifts, back to the drawing board. The balance I never seem to get is, do people prefer quantity or quality, a couple of high value gifts or a selection of cheaper ones? I probably have that wrong this year, it doesn’t look right because some will have just a couple of gifts whilst others have several … oh, why does something so enjoyable have to be so stressful!

Down to Disneyland in a couple of weeks and I am really nervous and that isn’t good. I am getting stressed because of who is going and whether or not the personalities are going to rub each other, there could be too much bickering, too many delays and the whole experience is soured by not enough consideration to others. The trouble with my being this stressed is, as soon as I relax, I am near certain to get ill and, with so much driving to do and my being the only driver, that just gives me more stress!

Party tonight, I’m driving so no drinking (again). Not that I am much of a drinker anyway but, somehow, not being able to makes me feel like I should all the more!

Had a meeting at Coach House yesterday, all seemed to go OK. Jermaine was a little grumpy, seemed a little tired but, apart from that he was alright.

Tea and a late breakfast I think.

Family Pictures

I have to admit that I failed, yes eager reader, I failed to get a single picture which met my exacting requirements and so, I confess, the family pictures are edited! At this point we should have some sort of sinister music or something but, I am not entirely sure how, in a blog, to get the timing of that just right so, please feel free to insert some of your own.

Below are the before’s and afters of the two pictures I took, the second does include me, thanks for noticing I wasn’t in the one I already posted!

Each of the edited pictures is an amalgamation of several other pictures, one core picture with several elements overwritten.

So, now you know, it’s all sort of fake but, any good? I’ll let you be the judge!

I was sort of right …

About my PC being fully functional again … I had not realised that one of the programs which seemed to be working fine had actually not installed properly and it meant my PC would not sync with my phone … when it tried, it deleted all my contacts and diary entries!

All, thankfully, sorted now!

Tomorrow I actually don’t have that much to do … oh dear, that statement again  Sad smile

They just don’t know!

I was pointed toward a study piece today, it’s rather long and boring but, made a valid point all the same .. the link is here if you are interested

As none of us really like long winded scientific stuff, here is the thrust of it …

It is now widely accepted that some people are so stupid, they are too stupid to know they are stupid!

Put another way, someone can make stupid decisions but, because they, as a person, are stupid, they have no idea their decisions are stupid so believe them to make perfect sense. If someone argued with them their decision was stupid they’d still not get it because they are stupid.

So, for some people, until they ‘get’ that realisation that they may be stupid, they’ll simply have no concept that they are, in fact, stupid.

Seems obvious but …. not if your stupid!

How about this, it makes little sense on first reading and then, perfect sense afterwards … unless you are stupid of course:

There are things we know we know about. There are things we know we don’t know.  And there are things that are unknown unknowns.  We don’t know that we don’t know.

Does that make sense to you?

OK, let’s break it down for you … the first part:

There are things we know we know about … We know we know the sky is blue

There are things we know we don’t know …. I know I don’t know the boiling point of battery acid

There are unknown unknowns …. That is, I mentioned the two above because I know they exist, if I didn’t know something existed then I’d not only not know the details of it but also have no idea that ‘it’ existed so, I’d not know what I don’t know.

Hence the last statement … we don’t know that we don’t know or, we are that stupid but we are too stupid to know it, others know it but, the stupid don’t so, to them, they cannot know they are stupid until they know what stupid is.

There, glad I sorted that out for you .. if you are still struggling with it, it’s OK, if you know you have no idea what this was about then, you are probably not ‘that’ stupid!

They just don’t know!

The future looks bright

We are heading away from the dizzy heatwave of summer (I made that bit up) and heading for the long British winter. It does seem hard to believe with temperatures still around 17°C in places but it is November and, very soon, we shall be doing Christmas!

We have a week in Disneyland Paris to look forward to very soon and, subject to the top box fitting the car (Sean), everything is looking good for that. Josh was in the Disney store earlier on today and was dancing away to one of the parade tunes from the large, in store screen, he does seem to enjoy his Disney. I am not quite so certain to how he will react to a 7’ Sully from Monsters Inc but who knows, he may be OK!

Going into Christmas and it is quite clear who the important players are around that time. Not a lot has changed since Josh’s first Christmas last year but then it was uncertain where we were heading. I think events (or lack of them) from the past few months have demonstrated clearly that his family in Kent and Birmingham have no interest in him at all so it will be those here who make a point of seeing him and knowing him who are his future now. It’s a weird bunch in some ways, I am not sure what the traditional family is but, it isn’t ours! There is me and Deej, the granddads along with Grandma Kris and Nanny Clare. He has plenty of aunts and uncles too, too many to have me do a huge list but those who actually seem to care would be Uncle Matt and Auntie Anne, Auntie Jess and Uncle Chris, Auntie Zoey, Auntie Anastasia and Auntie Kim. Auntie and Uncle Latina & Tarantino are a little too young to take their place. There is Uncle Jermaine, of course, but he’s a little too distant in so many ways to play a huge role. On top of that are all the close family friends who love being part of Josh’s life … he is one very lucky young man who has all the love he could need.

Deej and me are off to Florida again next year for a second try at a relaxing, fun filled time after my illness sort of spoiled our honeymoon. It will be good to do many of the rides missed out on last time and many new ones never done before!

Am not sure, as yet, what the arrangements are for Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Eve are yet, we need to get that sorted quite soon. It is not going to involve any webcam sessions, I know that much! This year is for close family and those friends who matter, as it should be. Not to say that anyone else is ruled out for ever but, sometimes people need to make an effort to be part of something good like we have here.

I think 2011 is going to be fun and interesting. I anticipate some troubled waters not least on the financial front but I am hopeful it shall be much less an emotional roller coaster as 2010 has been.

Am really pleased that Danny’s dad, Dan seems to have made a full recovery, he’s a lovely man.

This year I have also been able to play a positive role in the lives of others and be of some help which always makes the effort worth while.

Is it worth taking bets on whether the new car will be this year or next? I suspect well into next year myself!

Decided to take the plunge and book myself some holistic therapy sessions. I really think it will do me some good. The only downside is having to drive there but, I guess I can live with that … not like I have a choice!

In 2011 I want the money aspect of life to work out as I have plans in my mind that will only work with the money to pay for them so, fingers crossed and, no, I am not saying what they are.

Will I be a granddad for the 3rd or even 4th time in 2011? Isn’t it exciting?

I give Sean & Daisy a hard time over their education, I think they need a kick to make sure they keep on the ball with it. That’s not the same as me saying I don’t have any confidence in what they can achieve. If I thought they were both heading for a fail I wouldn’t bother at all. It is difficult being 17 & 18, doing a full time education and being a mum & dad but, all things considered, they are OK at it. When I look around at some of the messy teens there are around, the total losers who have just lied and cheated to get what they have and disrespect people, hell, sod, it, I am not going to start comparing Daisy & Sean to them!

Hey, my little Matt, all grown up. I am loads proud of him and what he has achieved and he’s turned into a fine man. Still has some stuff to learn but, he’s getting there. He is so fortunate, not that he needs me to tell him, to have found Anne. She’s a good mum and a fun person … I love the way it can take an age to tell one story that she finds funny because she laughs so much!

I want 2011 filled with good people in my life, those who give a shit and who don’t lie. Even if it is the only liar free year I get it’ll be good.

Hmm, is that the kettle I hear?

Back Up & Running again!

I am pleased to announce that, in near record time, I have gone from a poorly PC to a totally rebuilt (yes Sean, it is ‘rebuilt’) PC!

It had far too much on it, too many little additions since I got the PC, too many new programs, upgrades and patches. Worse still, it would not synch with the Xbox downstairs!

I made some changes to the distribution list, let me know if you want to still get this blog (or not).

Got my Deej back today, I am a happy bunny Smile
