Meeting Royalty UK

That is me being presented to HRH the Princess Royal (Anne, the sister of the King) for work I did for a charity where I worked as a volunteer for around 3 years.

I was highly trusted by the charity until someone who took a dislike to me, exaggerated the impact of another aspect of my life which had zero impact on the charity work at all. They discovered that, as a photographer I had done and was open to nude photography. Not for porn, just as requested. This was seen as incompatible with my work for IT supporting Carers online. I was immediately sacked which they upheld on appeal even though I was able to prove beyond doubt that there had never been any link between the two things.

Anyway, this was one of my proudest moments, one I wish I had been able to share with my parents but, that was not to be.

It did create an awkward moment for me in that year (2012) whereby I had an ongoing issue in the US I am sure many Brits experience. When we get talking to the locals, they all seem to think we somehow have all met and had tea with the Queen and, of course, know their contact who lives 200+ miles away.

A few months after meeting HRH I was in a restaurant in New Jersey and the waitress, who apparently had never met anyone British, straight asked, so, have you had tea with the Queen. I would normally answer that, no, of course not!

This time I had to say, no, not the Queen but I did have a coffee with her daughter last week!

I do not think that confirms in any way that they are correct in the US, it is just now a handful of folk in New Jersey now believe they are.

Nadiskobrehan nila kana, isip usa ka photographer nga akong nahimo ug bukas sa hubo nga litrato. Dili alang sa pornograpiya, sama sa gihangyo. Nakita kini nga dili uyon sa akong trabaho para sa IT nga nagsuporta sa mga Tig-atiman online. Diha-diha dayon akong gitaktak nga ilang gipaluyohan sa apela bisan pa nga ako nakahimo sa pagpamatuod sa walay pagduhaduha nga walay bisan unsa nga koneksyon tali sa duha ka mga butang.

Anyway, this was one of my proudest moments, one I wish nga naa koy ma share sa akong parents pero, dili to.

Kung nakigsulti kami sa mga lokal, silang tanan daw naghunahuna nga kami tanan nagkita ug nakig-tsa sa Queen ug, siyempre, nahibal-an ang ilang kontak nga nagpuyo 200+ milya ang gilay-on.

Pipila ka bulan pagkahuman sa pagkita sa HRH naa ko sa usa ka restawran sa New Jersey ug ang waitress, nga dayag nga wala pa makahimamat sa bisan kinsa nga British, diretso nga nangutana, busa, nakig-tsa ka ba sa Queen. Ako sa kasagaran motubag niana, dili, siyempre dili!

Niining higayona kinahanglan kong isulti, dili, dili ang Reyna apan nakig-kape ako sa iyang anak nga babaye sa miaging semana!

Sa akong hunahuna wala kana nagpamatuod sa bisan unsang paagi nga sila husto sa US, karon usa ka pila ka tawo sa New Jersey ang nagtuo nga sila.
